英語エッセイ第８７話のテーマは、 Taking an advantage of being in New York. ? Part 3 「ニューヨークの利点　その３」です。私が住むマンハッタンのアパートのすぐ傍に、ちょっといいバーがあり、そこに女性２人と遊びに行きました。すると、その店内で意外なスターと偶然隣り合わせに。でもまだ気が付かない所からこの話し「その３」は始まります。さて、今週はどんなハプニングが待ち受けている事でしょうか？　今週も、もちろん実話です。

Taking an advantage of being in New York.- part3

In a while, Miss A lighted her cigarette.
Then the man moved an ashtray from his side and put it in front of her.
Miss A said, "thank you."

The man said, "Ｄoitashimashite."
YOSHINO said, "doesn't it sound like Japanese?"
I and Miss A said, "Surely, it does."

Then something seemed to ring a bell for YOSHINO.
He may be ....

YOSHINO politely asked him,

"Excuse me, may I ask your name?"
I am Grady Tate.
YOSHINO jumped out from her chair
  and bowed deeply to greet him.
He was an international drummer.

I and Miss A jumped out from our chairs and bowed to him.
This scene is like a scene from Mitokoumon

when a regular guy shows his real ID in front of bad guys.
"Ha,haa, can't you see this?"

That night, our party went on from that moment.

"surely, it does＝そう言われると確かに・・・
seem＝思われる　　ring a bell＝（何かで）ピンと来る
for＝〜にとって　　may be ....＝もしかして  politely＝失礼のないよう
may I〜＝〜していいですか？
may I ask your name?＝お名前聞いていいですか？

jumped out ＝飛び降りた　　chair＝椅子
bowed deeply ＝深々と頭を下げた　　
international drummer＝世界的なドラマー　　like＝〜のような
scene＝シーン、場面　　　Mitokoumon＝水戸黄門
regular ＝おなじみの　　 guys＝男　　show＝見せる
real＝実際の、本物の　　
ID＝本人であることを証明できるカードなど（この場合、印籠）
bad guys＝悪人ども　　
Ha,haa, can't you see this?＝ハハーッという感じである
party ＝一行、グループ　　went on ＝盛り上がった
